New packaging materials and new products to be packaged put new demands on leak testing. Leaks in a package may shorten the lifetime of the packaged product, and must therefore be rigorously controlled. Using tracer gases such as helium or hydrogen for leak testing is for many manufacturers the preferred method since it is a dry, fast, accurate and non destructive method.
